Cynthia Martinez, the University Park resident whose legalwoes included an arrest on prostitution charges last year, was back in jail Wednesday. University Park police arrested Martinez on Monday after stopping her car for a traffic violation as she was driving on Dublin street. Officers also found that her Texas drivers license had expired. Police said they then determined that she had one pill in her possession but did not havea prescription for it.

The drug was marked Adderall and Martinez confirmed that’s what it was, She was taken into custody and arraigned on a single felony drug charge. Police Capt. Leon Holman said that bond was set at $2,000 but that she was transferred to Dallas county Jail because she was unable to post bond.

Dallas police and federal officials Wednesday briefed leaders on efforts to crack down on an expected spike in sex trafficking surrounding SuperBowl XLV. We know as a result of the Super Bowls held in other parts of the cuontry that this is an occasion where the criminal element in our society will bring in people who are basically subject to involuntry servitude.

Estimates of how many prostitutes may flood North Texas in the coming weeks have varied widely, and Dallas police officials caution that there is no reliable way to quantify the increase surrounding the big game. Officials said the crackdown is not just about the up coming game but part of an ongoing effort and shift in strategy that began years ago and will continue long after the game ends.
